Head Coach - Nick Haidin
With an impressive 25-year career in the Northside Independent School District, Coach Haidin brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and success to every team he leads. His coaching journey spans both middle and high school athletics, where he has made a lasting impact across multiple sports.
At the middle school level, Coach Haidin has led his teams to numerous victories, including district championships in golf (1), basketball (4), football (4), and track (2).
His success continued at the high school level, where he guided water polo teams to 8 Alamo Tournament titles, 2 regional championships, and earned Coach of the Year honors twice. In swimming, he has coached teams to 21 district championships, 4 regional titles, and proudly coached the 2006 state champion in the 50 freestyle—all while being named Coach of the Year an impressive 11 times.
Coach Haidin is known not only for his consistent record of athletic excellence but also for his commitment to building character, teamwork, and resilience in every athlete he mentors. His leadership has shaped countless student-athletes into strong competitors and even stronger individuals.
Connor Philpott - Lead Assistant Coach
Connor is a dedicated student at Trinity University, pursuing a degree in Accounting and Finance. With a passion for swimming that started at the age of 6, he brings over a decade of experience to the pool. Connor has spent the past 4 years coaching swim teams, where he’s honed his skills in both leadership and technique development.
As an accomplished athlete, Connor was a 3-time Regional finalist and a State qualifier, showcasing his commitment to excellence in the sport. In recognition of his athletic achievements, he was named Athlete of the Month in April 2024. With his extensive swimming background and coaching expertise, Connor is excited to inspire the next generation of swimmers.
Izzy Wilson - Assistant Coach
Izzy is excited to return as a coach for this summer’s swim league! She is currently pursuing a nursing degree from Utah State. Izzy’s love for swimming began at the age of 7, and she has been involved in summer swim ever since. With four years of coaching experience, she brings both enthusiasm and skill to the pool. She can’t wait to make this summer a great one for all the swimmers!
Neva Haidin: Assistant Coach
Neva is thrilled to be a Torpedoes swim coach! She is currently a student at Texas A&M University in College Station, where she participated on the club water polo team. Neva has been passionate about swimming since the age of four, spending every summer on a swim team and continuing her career all four years at O’Connor High School, where she earned the honor of competing at the State level. With years of experience helping young swimmers develop strong technique across all strokes, Neva is excited to bring her energy, knowledge, and enthusiasm to support every athlete on the Torpedo team!
